January 26 A festive evening was held in the Elektrėnai Cultural Center to honor the winners of the "Elektrėnai žiburys" competition. Nominations are given to persons who accelerate the municipality's social, cultural, patriotic, educational, economic, sports activities, actively participate in community life, promote new initiatives, modernization of agriculture and rural development, involve young people, disabled people in active cultural and sports activities, through their work and achievements promoting the Municipality of Elektrėnai.
Mayor Gediminas Ratkevičius, Director of Administration Jekaterina Goličenko, Vice-Mayor Inga Kartenienė, Vice-Mayor Marius Urvakis, heads of Administration Departments expressed many nice words of congratulations to the nominees. Edita Rudelienė, a member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, and Silva Lengvinienė, a member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, came to congratulate the winners.
13 winners of the competition were awarded with statuettes specially created for this occasion: Ingrida Tviragienė - for merits in the field of education, Janina Petrauskienė - for merits in the field of health protection, Angelija Bliujienė - for merits in the social sphere, Vida Vičkačkienė - Culture Light of the Year, Ramunė Maleckienė - for merits in sports, Liveta Kazlauskaitė - Youth Leader of the Year, Women's Choir "Eldija" - for merits promoting Elektrėnai municipality, Rita Ščerbavičienė - for civic initiatives, UAB "Usva" - for successful business, Sponsor of the Year (unpublished), Vievios community "Veikiam kartu" - Community of the Year, Kristina and Deimantas Steponavičiai - Farm of the Year, "Extend a Hand of Kindness" Association - Non-Governmental Organization of the Year.
